USDA to Boost Rural Electric Grid Efficiency and Reliability in 8 States
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced funding
for four rural electric projects in eight
states—Colorado, Georgia, Nebraska, New Mexico, North
Carolina, Ohio, and Wyoming, and includes more than $20
million in Smart Grid funding.

DOE Names Regional University Clean Energy Business Competition Winners
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced the six
regional winners
of its National Clean Energy Business Plan Competition.

Ernest Moniz Sworn in as New Secretary of Energy
Ernest Moniz was sworn in as the new energy secretary after
being unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Tribes to Receive New Energy Department Assistance for Clean Energy
The Energy Department announced that five tribes will
receive technical assistance through the Strategic Technical
Assistance Response Team (START) Program for renewable
energy project development and installation. The five tribes
are located in the states of Alaska, Arizona, California,
Colorado, and Wisconsin.

EcoCAR 2 Teams Cruise Forward with Second Year Finals
During the week of May 20, all 15 EcoCAR 2 teams will be
competing in the second-year finals of the competition that
challenges students from across North America to develop
highly efficient vehicles using technologies.
